Child and Youth Safe Standards

The Child and Youth Safe Standards is an element of the Framework which sets the standards and culture for creating child and youth safety in organisations where child abuse is prevented, responded to and reported.

The standards embed child and youth safety in the attitudes, behaviours and practices of organisations and the people who work and/or volunteer for them.

The standards are principle-based and focus on outcomes, providing organisations the flexibility to implement them in ways that are meaningful and achievable to them.

In applying all 10 standards into practice, organisations must also give effect to the Universal Principle for Aboriginal Cultural Safety.

Sport and recreation organisations that work with children and young people can continually work towards implementing and reviewing the standards and improve their child and youth safe practices.
